From the site "Behind the Name": From the Roman family name Fabianus, which was derived from FABIUS. Fabius, in turn was a Roman family name which was derived from Latin faba "bean". Cool! And when my boy was born, both him and my mother and sister were disappointed I didn't want to name the little one Chris, too... Yo, Bearer of Christ... I chose Fabian instead, which supposedly means "bean-grower". (That last fact I learned only later...) |
